White, palm-fringed beaches, turquoise sea and the lush green of the mountains – there are few archipelagos on earth that deserve to be called a paradise as much as the islands of the Seychelles.
The characteristic trademark of the Seychelles are the granite rocks on the pristine beaches of the islands. This is where you find them, the beaches of your dreams, that are often so beautiful that they almost seem unreal, such as at Anse Lazio on Praslin or Anse Sevère on La Dique. The island also features a diverse and colourful under-water world rich in exotic fish and corals underneath the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. They are the starting point for a unique diver's paradise.
WHEN SHOULD I GO TO THE SEYCHELLES:
The Seychelles have a warm, tropical climate that is affected by the monsoon. From December to March, the north-west monsoon influences the climate with many rainy days but very high temperatures nonetheless. There are also many sunny days during these months.
In the months from May to October, the stormy south-east monsoon determines the weather; but severe storms are rare; dry and pleasant weather dominates. There is a windless period from October to November. Because of their proximity to the equator, it is warm all the year round in the Seychelles, with an average temperature between 27 to 32 degrees during the day and water temperatures of 26 degrees all year round.
GOOD TO KNOW:
The Seychelles are a preferred spot for producers of commercials and photographers. Because the Caribbean are not beautiful enough for the commercials, the scenes are often shot here rather than in the Caribbean, especially for a well-known Caribbean rum. While Mauritius used to be always one step ahead of the Seychelles, today there are many top international hotels here. In the past few years, the choice of luxury accommodation has increased significantly.
